The owner of the Brewery Park Hotel and the Brewery Loft, both in Halifax, is now putting the finishing touches on the Black Forest Retreat, in Mahone Bay. That property consists of a restored 160-year-old gothic farmhouse, known as Spruce Top Cottage, surrounded by eight new self-contained cabins.
Having decided the competition for residential and commercial opportunities in Halifax is “just too fierce,” Lynch decided he would widen his search to anywhere within an hour of the city.
“I was looking for vacant lots where we could build something unique…and this opportunity came up,” said Lynch, who has also built in Truro and Inverness, the latter of which made him decide Cape Breton was too far away.
