Halifax’s First Boutique Hotel

Thoughtfully designed suites, each with its own personality, providing a unique guest experience in the heart of North End Halifax. Nestled between Oland’s Brewery and Bilby Park in Halifax’s North End is something special for your to discover.

Paying homage to Halifax’s rich architectural history, the buildings are equally at home in 2020 as they would be in 1820. Familiar architectural detail; clapboard wood siding, and traditional wood windows in concert with dentils, and corbels are ubiquitous in Halifax’s character-filled North End. Carefully considered human-scale design preserves the neighborhood’s walkability and architectural articulation aimed to contribute to the neighborhood fabric.

Forgotten construction methods brought back to life.

Wrapped in a traditional skin, the building shares little with its historical counterparts. Structural wood floor assemblies called nail laminated timber (NLT) were re-introduced. NLT’s which were commonly used in factory construction in the 19th century allows for the removal of concrete and steel, decreasing our carbon footprint while adding a unique design feature.

In sharp contrast to construction practices of that era, the buildings are one of the best performing commercial buildings in Canada for their size. Energy modeling by efficiency NS concluded they use less than half the energy of other buildings of their size.

Nail Laminated Timber (NLT) wood-framed structure.

Two thousand lengths of fourteen-foot pine, sourced locally from an independent mill on the South shore of Nova Scotia provide structure, fire separation, additional ceiling height, and an amazing ceiling! It took four carpenters one month and 250,000 fasteners to connect the NLT decks.

I stayed here last night (Jan 2024) in suite 2204 with my husband. We are local but had heard great things about this hotel and decided to book it for a date night to get a change of scenery. The first amazing surprise was when we received an email saying they were giving us a complimentary upgrade to the king suite. 🤩 And they also accommodated our late check out request! I read many of the reviews on here prior to our stay and am happy to report that we had none of the same issues a few others have reported. It seems that management have really gone above and beyond to rectify any issues that may have come up in the past. We had no problems with noise, or temperature, or kitchen amenities. The door was always locked and we were always able to park on the street right out front. We enjoyed dinner at a pub nearby (The Brown Hound) and also went to Cosmic Bingo at the forum. There’s so much to do and see in the immediate area. I would highly recommend the Brewery Park Hotel for couples or for anyone who might be traveling for work.

I stayed here recently on a work trip and was thrilled with the experience. Close walking distance to some wonderful stores and restaurants. (Special shout out to Luke’s small goods, the narrows and Isle at Ease). The room was great and spacious. Especially enjoyed the ability to check in without a formal check in process. Overall a wonderful stay in a fantastic room.

This trendy accommodation is underrated. What a neat apartment! It has cool furnishings, plates, cutlery, and drink/snack collection. Quite spacious too. You can deal with the staff with text message too. In the winter, just max out the heat pump and the lovely electric fireplace because it gets chilly. I will book again.

This is a great boutique hotel and we have had several staff stay here. The service was great, rooms were clean and beautiful. Excellent pricing for the size of room and space as well. Very close to downtown Halifax and a short drive to our office in Dartmouth. We will certainly be re-booking staff to stay here in the future.

Stayed here for a week on a work trip and it was a game changer having a cozy spacious bright room to come back to at the end of the day, versus a cramped plain corporate hotel room. The space was clean and tidy, the bathroom is spacious with a lovely shower. Plenty of space to hang up clothes, comfortable mattress and bedding. Fantastic location in the north end near great bars restaurants and cafes. I cannot wait to stay again.
